On our courses you will learn a
staggeringly effective, yet simple
technique to remain calm. When we are
threatened in some way and a conflict
situation usually constitutes as a
threat, our body will immediately react
and resort to ‘fight or flight’ mode.
One of the key physiological reactions
of the ‘fight or flight’ state is that
our breathing becomes shallow and
laboured. This causes an innate feeling
of anxiety or panic, this is not a good
state to be in when you are trying to
remain calm.
One way in which we can manage our
physiological state and thus remain calm
is be conscious of our breathing. If we
are aware of our breathing pattern and
take steps to breathe deeply and calmly
our responses will be measured and
intelligent. It is interesting that some
course participants claim that a
cigarette is one way they use to calm
down, well when you think about it one
of the things that a person does when
the inhale on a cigarette is they take
deep long calming in take of air!
Next time you are involved in a conflict
be mindful of your breathing, if you
want to learn the full technique then
